Finding a name is not hard. Finding a name that survives the trademark registers, the domain market, pronunciation in three languages and the way AI assistants will interpret it: that is hard. NameSapiens exists to do exactly that job, transparently, with a method you can read and check before you pay a cent.

The method, step by step

The journey starts with a conversation and ends with a report. In between sits a pipeline of specialised agents that generate, criticise and verify candidates before you ever see them.

1. The brief with Sapi. We do not ask you to fill in a twenty-field form. You talk to Sapi, our assistant, who asks the right questions: what the product does, who it speaks to, in which markets, which names you love and which you hate, which competitors you want to stay away from, which domain extensions you genuinely need. Sapi summarises the brief and shows it to you for confirmation. This is the moment to correct things, because everything that follows depends on it.

2. The strategy. From the brief, the pipeline derives a naming strategy: semantic territories to explore, permitted registers (descriptive, evocative, coined, compound), target length, phonetic constraints and the languages the name has to work in. The strategy is written down and you will find it in the report.

3. Six specialised agents. Generation then splits into six deliberately different perspectives, each handled by an agent with its own instructions and references:

  • the Latinist works on Latin and Greek roots, etymologies and classical coinages;
  • the poet looks for sound, rhythm, imagery and names that stick;
  • the engineer builds compact, modular names that are easy to spell and type;
  • the strategist starts from positioning and competitors and looks for open space in the market;
  • the linguist checks pronounceability, ambiguity and portability across languages;
  • the provocateur breaks the pattern and proposes what the others would not dare.

Each agent produces its own list. The diversity is intentional: a single generator tends to fall back on the same patterns.

4. The critic. A dedicated agent reviews the whole set and cuts: names too similar to each other, names that violate the strategy, names with problematic meanings in the languages specified, names nobody can pronounce. The critic leaves a note for every exclusion, so you know why a name did not make it.

5. Trademark and domain pre-screening. Surviving candidates go through automated checks against public sources: trademark databases (EUIPO, TMview, WIPO), domain availability via RDAP on the extensions you specified, domain history on the Wayback Machine, presence in search results and open knowledge bases. Serious conflicts trigger a hard gate; minor ones lower the score.

6. Twenty finalists with a Name Readiness Score. For each finalist we calculate the Name Readiness Score across seven dimensions: strategy, phonetics, trademark, domain, linguistics, AI visibility and defensibility. Every score comes with the evidence gathered, not just a number. The full method is documented on the Method page.

7. Shortlist and report. From the twenty finalists, a shortlist of at most five names emerges, with reasoning, known risks and suggested next steps. Everything goes into a PDF report you can share with partners, investors or your trademark adviser.

Starter is for people who need to get going: a startup being incorporated, a new product in an existing catalogue, a side project that deserves a serious name. You get everything the pipeline produces, with no human intervention, in about an hour.

Pro adds what a machine cannot do: a NameSapiens naming expert reads the brief and the shortlist, discards what only sounds good on paper, adds their notes and talks them through with you on a call. The second regeneration round exists precisely to fold in what comes out of that conversation.

Enterprise is for companies launching in several markets or managing a naming architecture (master brand, lines, products). It starts with a workshop with your team, includes analysis per language and market, and closes with separate reports and an invoice on agreed terms.

What you actually receive

  • The structured brief and the written naming strategy.
  • Twenty finalist names with their Name Readiness Score and per-dimension breakdown.
  • The pre-screening evidence: similar trademarks found, domain status, search signals.
  • The shortlist of at most five names with recommendation and risks.
  • The PDF report, versioned with the pipeline used.
  • For Pro and Enterprise: the expert's notes and the call summary.

What we do not promise

We do not promise that a name is registrable as a trademark or that a domain will still be free when you go to register it. The sources we use are public and non-exhaustive; Italian trademarks, for instance, are consulted through TMview rather than directly in the UIBM database. Pre-screening lowers the risk of discovering an obvious conflict after you have printed the business cards, but it does not replace a professional clearance search. We write it here and repeat it in the report, because it is the part free tools usually leave out.

How to start

You can try the free Name Check on a name you already have in mind: you get a summary score and see how the system thinks. If you want a full project, pick a plan, complete the brief with Sapi and receive the proforma. Work begins when the transfer is credited.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to get my names?
On the Starter plan the full pipeline takes about an hour from the moment the brief is finalised. On the Pro plan, which includes a human expert review and a call, delivery is within 5 working days. For Enterprise, timing is agreed in the kick-off workshop.
Are the proposed names registrable as trademarks?
We cannot guarantee that. The trademark and domain pre-screening reduces the risk of obvious conflicts, but it relies on non-exhaustive public sources and does not replace a professional clearance search. Consult a trademark attorney before filing.
What if none of the names convinces me?
Every plan includes at least one regeneration round: you update the brief with what you learned from the first results and the pipeline produces a new set of candidates. Additional rounds can be purchased separately.
How do I pay?
By bank transfer only. After ordering you receive a proforma with bank details and a code to quote in the transfer reference; the service starts when the transfer is credited. The proforma is valid for 14 days. We do not accept credit cards.
Are my briefs used for other clients or to train models?
No. Your briefs and uploaded content are used only to deliver your service. We do not sell data and we do not use it to train models. See the privacy policy for details.
